Nado Poizokhang Bhutanese Incenses

Nado Poizokhang is the oldest and the largest hand-made incense stick manufacturer in Bhutan. It was a government owned company until the early 1990s. When the Royal Government started privatizing most of the Government owned organizations, this company started to commercialize in the year 1991. It is a family business managed by family members while providing employment for 15 poor, uneducated, and underprivileged people. They work closely with the community based Sustainable Management of Medicinal Plants Project that educates collectors in the sustainable collection and cultivation of the natural products that they use in the making of their incense.

Nado Poizokhang produces eleven varieties of incense sticks and two types of incense powder using about hundred different natural herbs and medicinal plants, mostly grown in mighty Himalayas. The formula used in making their incense is as old as 700 years. The incense is 100% pure, natural and artistic. The products from this company are highly acclaimed within and outside Bhutan.

NOTE: Due to its fabulous reputation and high quality, "Nado Poizokhang'" incense is one of the most counterfeited incenses made and sold. Many incense companies selling "Nado Poizokhang" incense have purchased it from a middle man, typically in Nepal, assuming that is was genuine Nado Poizokhang incense. Most times, it is not.

We import DIRECTLY from Bhutan, from Nado Poizokhang. When you purchase Nado Poizokhang incense from Essence of the Ages™, you are GUARANTEED authentic Nado Poizokhang incense.

You will notice that most of the Nado Poizokhang incenses come in 'Grades'. What does this mean? The main ingredients of the incenses include sandalwood, clove, red sandalwood, major cardamom, saffron, nutmeg, aquilaria agallocha, pure honey, cane sugar, shorea robusta, jatamansi, cinnamomum camphora and juniper powder. To these are also added a wide range of other Bhutanese herbs and plants with medicinal and fumigating power. All ingredients are first ground into powder. The powder is then mixed with water, sugar and honey. Juniper forms the main component although the amount of juniper depends on the quality or Grade. The better the quality, or Grade, of incense, lesser amount of juniper is used, increasing the ratio and aroma of the other precious ingredients.

All seven grades can be used as an offering, room fresher, and for visualization in meditation, lifting your spirit and relaxing your body.

NADO POIZOKHANG CINNAMON INCENSE: Made entirely from cinnamon bark, another quality incense from Nado Poizokhang. Roll contain approximately 24 sticks, 5 1/4" long.

NADO POIZOKHANG JAJU INCENSE: Never before exported from Bhutan, Jaju incense is another quality incense from Nado Poizokhang. This incense is formulated according to the doctrine and Buddhists texts of the Upa Tantra and the Kriya Tantra and specifically used or offered during these rituals. Contains rhododendron leaves, juniper leaves, myrobalan, gooseberries, nutmeg, black cardamom, white cardamom, clove, licorice, cinnamon, sandalwood, and other precious ingredients. Approximately 30 to 40 sticks – 8.75" long.

NADO POIZOKHANG INCENSE - GRADE 'A' INCENSE: NEW PACKAGING! From Bhutan, contains about a hundred precious aromatic substances like nagi (scale of pangolin), giwang (bezoar), clove, musk, nutmeg, saffron, red and white sandal wood, and other medicinal herbs. The best selling Bhutanese incense available. Comes in a bamboo tube. Large roll contains approximately 30 to 40 sticks, 8.75" long. Short roll contain approximately 24 sticks, 5 1/4" long.

Note: Happiness Incense is Grade A Incense, but just in a new package, with a name to reflect the country's slogan: Bhutan: The country of GROSS NATIONAL HAPPINESS.
