Cutting the sticks for uniformity.
Counting the sticks for packaging.
Once the dhoop is completely dry it is first bundled into large rolls. Those rolls are then put into a 'jig' and the ends hand sawed off to ensure uniform length of all sticks for final bundling.
The sticks are then counted out, 15 per bundle, in preparation of packaging for final sale.
Rolling the finished sticks in cellaphane wrap.

After the sticks have been counted out and bundled with string (in the traditional Tibetan fashion), they are labeled and rolled in cellophane.

The final step is to package the sticks in a handmade lotka paper box. An additional label naming the incense is applied under another cellophane wrap. Even though this might seem like a lot of packaging, it ensures the incense arrives in premium condition and freshness.

The final boxing and labeling.

We hope you have enjoyed watching TDHF make their precious incense. Tdhf receives 50% of the sale of each of their products through Essence of the Ages. As the Foundation is run by Toni Aguilar, loving sponsors, and volunteers, no money is taken for administrative costs. It all goes to the impoverished of Nepal, which is where it is intended to go. Please support this worthy organization in any way that you can.

This is a picture of Mr. Ritha. He is the seventh generation of his family to own this ayurvedic shop in Kathmandu. Many of the ingredients that go into Tdhf incense are acquired from this man.

Disciple of Lhasa

According to Dhondup, the recipe for the 'Disciple of Lhasa' incense has been passed from Lama to Lama. Dhondup received the formula for the 'Disciple of Lhasa' incense from his master in Lhasa, when he was a boy. This teacher was the reincarnation of another important Lama. This monk delivered this formula to Dhondup so that he could live through another life. For the last fifty years, each day Dhondup makes this incense for, and with, the monks in Kathmandu. The monks consider this to be a very holy incense.

The 'Disciple of Lhasa' incense is very Tibetan, made with tibetan herbs, and contains Onicha. With Dhondup, Tdhf adapted this incense to the present laws for export, (Its original recipe contained organic musk). This its the only difference. This incense is all natural, as are all the incenses produced by Tdhf.

Dhondup knew the heart of Tdhf and decided to help with the Incense Project. Tdhf thanks him for his generosity and sharing of knowledge.

Monk praying over the incense as it is being made

A Buddhist monk prays while the incense is being made. In addition to offering prayers and blessings, the monks also advise Tdhf on the making of their incense.
